"Along the Sandbank" was born from a moment I didn’t want to let go of. Standing at the ocean’s edge, feeling the sand shift beneath my feet as the wave pulled away, as if taking something with it. I tried to capture that strange, quiet ache in the textures of the sand, still rippled and glowing from the retreating tide. The sky above was alive that day, heavy and restless, full of colour that felt almost too dramatic to be real, and yet there it was.
In this piece, I let go of the need to paint exactly what I saw and instead followed what I felt - the push and pull of the sea, the vastness overhead, and that fleeting sense of being both very small and completely at peace.
