Grounded Abstractions is a collection of paintings and stone mosaics I’ve been developing slowly, guided by texture, light, and the quiet rhythms of the surrounding nature.

Livia Kerr Solo Exhibition + Sale, "Grounded Abstractions"
Grounded Abstractions is a solo exhibition of paintings and stone mosaics by Livia Kerr, on view throughout May 2026 in Midtown Sacramento.
The exhibition brings together a body of work inspired by the natural world and its quiet, enduring rhythms - serene landscapes, organic forms, and richly textured surfaces translated into tactile, abstract compositions. Working fluidly between painting and sculptural mosaic, Livia Kerr explores how landscape can be both observed and felt, shifting between representation and abstraction. In her paintings, layered color, gesture, and mixed media create atmospheric spaces that evoke shifting light and open horizons. In her mosaics, hand-cut fragments of slate, stone, shells, and other natural materials are carefully arranged into organic formations that echo patterns of earth and water.
Though distinct in process, both bodies of work are rooted in a shared intention: to express nature’s textures, stillness, and movement through a deeply tactile and intuitive language. Drawing from themes of transformation, impermanence, and the balance between fragility and endurance, the work invites a slower, more contemplative way of seeing - where material and memory converge.
